| The Wind Ensemble Conducted by Dr. Thomas Lee ![]() The 50 members of the UCLA Wind Ensemble are highly select and versatile musicians who are challenged to create music at the highest artistic levels. On campus, the ensemble performs in UCLA's acoustically and architecturally renowned Royce Hall. Recent tours have included performances for the California Music Educators Association in San Diego, and the College Band Directors National Association in Reno, Nevada. In 1992, the ensemble presented the premiere of Paul Reale's "Columbus Concerto" at the XIV International Forum of New Music in Mexico City, and founded a commisioning program for new wind literature. The UCLA Wind Ensemble also premiered a musical montage on the CBS special "1991 - A Year to Remember", receiving one of television's prestigious Emmy nominations. Auditions for the Wind Ensemble are held at the beginning of Fall Quarter. |
