Registering to vote
California residents can register to vote online at the link below. Your California driver’s license or California identification card number or the last four digits of your social security number and your date of birth are required to register online. The last day to register in time for the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 19.
However, if you miss the deadline, you can still register or re-register and cast a provisional ballot in the upcoming election through same-day or conditional voter registration. Click the link below to learn more.
Voting by mail/early voting
Registered voters can vote by mail in California. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned at an official county drop box from Oct. 6 to poll closing on Nov. 3, in-person at a vote center or polling place or by mail. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3, so if mailing a ballot on Election Day, make sure to get a manual postmark from a United States Post Office employee. In California, Voter’s Choice Act participating counties (including LA County) allow voters registered within the county to vote at any vote center in the county. In-person early voting is open from Oct. 24-31 for the Nov. 3 general election.
Voting at UCLA
UCLA has vote centers that are open to anyone who is registered in LA County and also offer Conditional Voter Registration for those who missed the Oct. 19 deadline. Vote on campus at Pauley Pavilion, De Neve Plaza or Ackerman Union, or in Westwood Village at the Hammer Museum, according to student non-partisan civic engagement coalition BruinsVote.
