Final exams week and winter break at UCLA
Happy winter, Bruins! With winter break approaching and festivities planned for the end of the year, that means finals week is here. After your hard work, you deserve a much-needed break; keep reading for finals resources and winter break relaxation ideas — from a UCLA student, for UCLA students!
Some finals week reminders & resources:
It is important to remember to take breaks when studying for finals! The Study Break Cafe in the Third-Floor Study Lounge will be open to those who need a moment to pause from studying with refreshments and snacks. Whether you visit the Study Break Cafe or opt for a stroll around campus, make sure to get plenty of rest and stay hydrated before going to ace all those exams!
Additional student resources can be found at the various student centers across campus, from the Transfer Student Center and Bruin Resource Center to the Career Center and more.
Mental health matters! The UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) program has mental health resources for Bruins as well, during finals week and beyond.
Enjoying the winter break:
Consider relaxing with a good winter or holiday movie or show, such as the few listed ideas below.
Recent - “The Holdovers”
Comedy - “The Holiday”, “Groundhog Day”
Movie series - “Twilight”
Television series - “Gilmore Girls” (featuring UCLA campus)
Period piece - “Little Women”
Animated - “Frozen”, “Ice Age”
For the readers, visit BookZone of the UCLA Store in Ackerman Union to read something other than UCLA course materials and textbooks.
Classic literature - “Pride and Prejudice”
Book series - “The Chronicles of Narnia”
Or click the Goodreads winter list here for more.
Make hot cocoa or purchase some cozy treats while reading or watching a movie! It may not be snowy in California for break (you never know), but it may just be cool enough for a cozy beverage like hot chocolate.
For those still on or near campus, consider using the time to explore more parts of campus that you may have been too busy with during the quarter, such as visiting the fitness and recreation centers or the Hammer Museum.
Whatever you decide to do this finals week and winter season, enjoy the well-deserved break, and we will see you in the new year! Good luck with finals, Bruins!
