Read through summer, the Bruin way

Whether you’re relaxing at home, commuting to a summer internship or job or just looking to read something other than a Canvas discussion post, summer is the perfect time to crack open a book you’ve been meaning to read or find a new favorite read entirely.

For Bruins staying in the Los Angeles (LA) area over the summer or those who are just missing Westwood, check out these books set in LA and California. These lists (linked below), composed of both fiction and non-fiction, aim to capture the diversity of the city and include audiobooks to listen to in case you wish to read while stuck in LA traffic.

And if the LA connection isn’t enough, the books in the following list put together by UCLA Magazine have a direct connection to UCLA itself.

From mysteries to memoirs, Bruins have made a mark on literature that encompasses many genres and time periods. Browse books by UCLA-affiliated authors this summer from these lists, linked below and compiled by the UCLA Alumni Association and the UCLA College of Letters and Science, respectively.

If you’re looking for more inspiration, we asked UCLA BookZone employees to share their top picks for summer — who better to ask for recommendations than people who are surrounded by books all day? Take a look at their selections through the links below.
