Through generous donations to the ASUCLA Cares Campaign, 450 $10 meal vouchers are being distributed through campus collaborators to students in need.

Los Angeles, Calif., Aug. 17, 2026 – Helping food-insecure students in their time of need, Associated Students UCLA raised $4,500 to provide meals for Bruins facing financial hardship. Now, with the support of on-campus organizations, meals are being distributed to students through $10 meal vouchers, giving recipients the flexibility and convenience of enjoying a warm, fresh meal on campus.

“Meeting students' basic needs is essential to their academic success,” said Pamela Lewis, ASUCLA Student Union services director. “We're proud to work alongside our campus partners to provide immediate support for Bruins experiencing food insecurity.”

Recent studies found that 39% of UCLA students were food insecure. To help address this need through development efforts, the meal voucher distribution was made possible through donations to the ASUCLA Cares Campaign. Founded in 2025, the ASUCLA Cares Campaign was established by the ASUCLA Student Union Development team to reinvest in the UCLA community by supporting students’ basic needs.

Closing out the first year of the ASUCLA Cares Campaign, the ASUCLA Student Union Development team has passed off the vouchers to the UCLA Community Programs Office and UCLA Basic Needs to identify those in need and distribute meal vouchers.
