ASUCLA receives gold, silver and bronze American Business Awards

Announced April 25, ASUCLA is among top finalists of the 2025 ABAs, receiving a gold honor for Bruin One Access and three additional awards.

Los Angeles, Calif., April 30, 2025 – Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) was honored with gold for the Postsecondary Learning Solution category for Bruin One Access in the 23rd annual American Business Awards (ABA), taking home four winnings in total.

In addition to the gold award, ASUCLA received two silver trophies, including Achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility for CalFresh acceptance expansion and Support Staffer of the Year for Felicia Gonzalez, ASUCLA Security and Loss Prevention employee. The Association also accepted Bronze for Nonprofit Organization of the Year.

“We're honored to receive theses prestigious awards, which recognize the passion, innovation and hard work our team brings to serving the UCLA community,” said Ari Baron, director of ASUCLA Marketing. “This is a proud moment reflecting our commitment to marketing excellence. I'm especially proud of Christina Manuel, our Communications & Social Media manager, and her team of students for telling our stories so effectively, highlighting the impact of all we do behind the scenes.”

The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Completing the first full year of implementation, Bruin One Access is a subscription program offering undergraduate students academic materials for $129 per quarter. With participation reaching approximately 70% each quarter and saving students over $3 million during the first year, the gold honor is a testament to the value of the new program.

With regards to the silver categories, ASUCLA retained its silver Social Corporate Responsibility award from the 2024 ABAs. CalFresh acceptance has since expanded since its inception on campus, recently incorporating a fourth UCLA Store location to widen food accessibility for Bruins on campus.

The second silver honor celebrates ASUCLA Security and Loss Prevention Officer Felicia Gonzalez for her vital role in maintaining the safety of the Bruin community thorough the challenges of 2024.

Last but not least, the bronze honor recognizes ASUCLA’s nonprofit commitment to providing excellent services, products, programs and facilities and its leadership in campus service and collaboration for the entire UCLA community.

These successes build upon ASUCLA’s gold and silver winnings in the 2024 ABAs: gold for Student-Run Business of the Year; and three silver awards for Marketing Department of the Year, Best Annual Report: Non-Profit Organizations, and Achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility for the implementation of CalFresh acceptance at the UCLA Store Market.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the 2025 ABA awards will be presented to winners at a gala ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Tuesday, June 10.
