Bruin Bash to Coachella pipeline

As Coachella week one has wrapped, and round two of the music festival begins this weekend, it is an exciting time to see your favorite artists perform live. Fun fact: did you know that many Coachella performers have also performed at Bruin Bash, a concert hosted by UCLA Campus Events Commission (CEC) and UCLA Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC)? Let’s take a trip down memory lane and celebrate the Bruin Bash to Coachella pipeline.

The following is not a complete list of every Bruin Bash artist who has gone on to perform at Coachella. Rather, here are some recent highlights:

PinkPanthress → Bruin Bash 2024 → Coachella 2024

Rico Nasty → Bruin Bash 2021→ Coachella 2019, 2022

Charli XCX → Bruin Bash 2018 → Coachella 2025

Tyga → Bruin Bash 2013 → Coachella 2022

Major Lazer → Bruin Bash 2011→ Coachella 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019

LMFAO → Bruin Bash 2009 → Coachella 2010, 2012

PinkPanthress, a British rapper and pop artist, known for her songs “Pain” and “Boy’s a liar,” performed at Bruin Bash in 2024, later making a surprise appearance during Ice Spice Coachella’s set in 2024. Charli XCX — Bruin Bash 2018 performer — had a standout year in 2024, with the release of her grammy winning album, Brat. Charli XCX is an electropop and hyperpop artist, known for fun, energetic records such as “I love it,” “Apple” and “360.” Charli will be taking the Coachella stage this year!

One of the most recurring Coachella performers who is also a past Bruin Bash artist is Major Lazor. Major Lazor performed at UCLA in 2011, and then proceeded to perform at Coachella three more times, the most recent time (2019) being a surprise performance  at the Do Lab stage with Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire.

Can’t go to Coachella this year? Try and go to Bruin Bash — with sponsors such as Postmates and Joinable — next fall quarter. Stay tuned for updates by checking out UCLA CEC and CAC’s channels on Instagram, @uclacec and @culturalaffairs. It is exciting to see how many Bruin Bash performers have gone on to play at Coachella. If history tells us anything, it is that we will continue to see Bruin Bash artists at major festivals in the future!
